Hi Joanne, Mobikes are designed to be parked out on the street so if you leave it on the pavement somewhere safe that will be fine. They have GPS trackers so anyone with the phone App will see where they are and be able to reserve it and use it for a journey.

Mobike’s website has some more details of the scheme including where they can be left and an email address to get in touch with them. https://mobike.com/uk/faq

What should I do?

The lack of seat post extension leaves me with both heels on the ground; far too low for a comfortable riding position. Also, like many people of a certain age I have dodgy knees and if I used the Mobikes my knees would soon be very painful and need further medical attention.

Hi Wayne,

As per my response to Mandy, these bikes do have GPS trackers and are intended just to be left out on the street. Mobike will be aware of their location if you can leave them on the pavement at a suitable location that doesn’t get in anyone’s way. We’ve heard that other bikes left in Gosforth Central Park, which is also outside their boundary, have been picked up and relocated though that doesn’t happen immediately.

Hi Mandy,

The bikes are designed so that they can be left pretty much anywhere so, unless it is broken, probably best if you park it outside somewhere that doesn’t block the pavement. They also all have gps trackers so Mobike should spot it once back outside.

If you can give us an approximate location then we can tweet @Mobike as well as they seem fairly responsive to that. If it is outside their service boundary they will probably want to collect it.

Thank Geo. We appreciate the feedback and have updated the article to confirm Mobikes do have lights.
